Amid the elegant surroundings of the iconic Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town-based venture studio Nineteen58 emerged victorious in the AI & Big Data category at the third annual South African Startup Awards, cementing its role as a leader in transformative customer service technology.
Nineteen58, which specializes in building omnichannel AI agents that deliver personalized, human-like interactions across platforms, outperformed a competitive field. The startup’s solutions are already helping businesses slash support costs by up to 60% while boosting customer satisfaction and driving growth.
This year’s awards drew a record 221 entries, narrowed to 44 finalists across 12 categories by public votes and expert screening. A panel of 28 judges selected the winners, highlighting the depth of South Africa’s early-stage tech ecosystem.
“We are convinced that the next generation of great global tech companies is being built right here at home,” said Mathew Marsden, founder of Startup Club ZA, the awards’ organizer. “The calibre of entrants this year was truly exceptional.
Other notable winners included FindHomes, which claimed the People’s Choice Award for its AI-powered property intelligence platform, and ArcFlow in the Future of Work category for its AI-driven ERP tools tailored to SMEs.
The event, held at the historic Mount Nelson Hotel, underscored Cape Town’s growing status as a hub for African innovation.
