Abuja, Nigeria – February 10, 2026 – In a significant move toward digital transformation, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has pledged full support for the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in its operations. This announcement came during the CAC’s 35th anniversary celebration in Abuja, highlighting the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved public services.
Abdullahi commended the CAC for its sustained growth and resilience over the past three and a half decades, noting that unlike many organizations that falter after initial success, the CAC has continued to thrive. He emphasized the necessity of AI in the modern digital era, praising the CAC’s Registrar General for prioritizing organizational transformation through technology from the outset of his leadership.
“We are in the era of artificial intelligence, and the Registrar General has shown vision and determination to integrate AI across CAC’s operations,” Abdullahi stated in his goodwill message. He assured that NITDA would collaborate closely with the CAC to embed AI into various processes, aiming to introduce intelligent workflows that simplify company registration and business management for Nigerians.
The integration of AI is already yielding impressive results for the CAC. According to recent reports, the commission now processes approximately 10,000 business registrations daily, a milestone attributed to its AI-driven reforms. This surge in efficiency not only accelerates business setups but also enhances cybersecurity measures to combat hacking and fraud. Abdullahi highlighted that equipping CAC staff with advanced AI tools would enable the agency to outpace fraudsters, while NITDA ensures the ethical and responsible deployment of these systems.
As part of the anniversary festivities, the CAC announced several initiatives to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including free business name registrations for 3,500 small businesses. The Registrar General described the development of the AI-driven portal as one of the most challenging yet rewarding projects undertaken by the commission, underscoring its dedication to digital reforms.
This partnership between NITDA and CAC positions Nigeria as a frontrunner in AI adoption within Africa’s public sector. Experts believe that such initiatives will streamline bureaucratic processes, reduce fraud, and foster a more conducive environment for entrepreneurship. As the country continues to embrace digital innovation, collaborations like this are expected to play a pivotal role in achieving broader economic goals.
